Dauphin, Treaty 2 Territory – On November 16 and 17, 2019, Rogers Hometown Hockey came to Dauphin, Manitoba, Treaty 2 Territory setting up in front of the CN Station for a weekend of outdoor hockey festivities, local entertainment, and a round dance by First Nations in Treaty 2 Territory.

Sunday night brought the live broadcast on Sportsnet, hosted by Ron MacLean and Tara Slone, ahead of the Calgary Flames facing the Vegas Golden Knights. Mya Kubrakovich, daughter of Boh Kubrakovich-Kiniw, was 15 years old and playing for the Yellowhead Chiefs Female U18 AAA team that season, and she joined the hosts on set that night representing her hometown and her team in front of a national audience.

Ron MacLean held an eagle feather and wore a Treaty 2 Territory Winter Games hoodie, a sign of the relationship between Hometown Hockey and the First Nations of the Treaty 2 Territory , the same territory that carries a lot of Boh’s work. Daughter Alicia was there supporting both her sister and her dad’s continued work of promoting the Territory and hockey.
